Rapid Recovery Breast Augmentation
by Richard L. Kofkoff, M.D.

Ideally, your recovery after any surgical procedure should be as rapid and comfortable as possible. While all discomfort cannot be eliminated, it is now possible to experience minimal discomfort and a quick return to normal non-strenuous activities following breast augmentation. We have worked to perfect this technique, the Rapid Recovery technique for breast augmentation.

The Rapid Recovery technique has allowed many of our patients to return to normal non-strenuous activities within 24 hours and to significantly reduce, and in some cases totally eliminate, the need for strong pain medication. No pain pump or other costly and uncomfortable devices are required to achieve this result.

What’s different about the Rapid Recovery technique? In essence, it is a gentler approach to the breast augmentation process. We take a proactive approach by beginning several medications prior to the procedure that will help to decrease discomfort and muscle soreness.

During the procedure, the operation is performed in a very precise manner to minimize injury to the breast tissue. Traditionally, much of the work within the breast is done bluntly, causing trauma, bleeding and postoperative pain. By being more precise and gentle, the body experiences less inflammation and postoperative discomfort.

Postoperatively, we have eliminated the need for a tight and uncomfortable surgical bra. This allows the implants to settle into their final and natural position more rapidly. In addition, you are encouraged to begin unrestricted movement of your arms immediately after surgery – even in the recovery room! This dramatically reduces stiffness and discomfort and speeds your return to normal.

The experience of our patients and their enthusiastic comments have been very gratifying. Many patients have returned to non-strenuous activities within 24 hours following the procedure. You may have waited a long time to have breast augmentation, but with the Rapid Recovery technique, you shouldn’t have to wait a long time to enjoy the benefits.
